Ancient Heat by Kira Shayde
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I found this a pleasant read.
Pros:
I was pulled in fairly quickly and I found the characters interesting. I enjoyed the story and parts of it were something of a page turner. I find the were-lion concept interesting and the details were consistent on what they could and could not do. Nicole learning what her body could do was the reader learning about the race.
Con:
At times the story was hectic and fast paced. More time between the high energy scenes might have made the flow better. The backstory and motivations of the Followers didn't seem very strong in relation to their actions. The motivations of the elders also was a little lacking.
Overall:
I did enjoy reading the book and will likely read again. I would like to see more in the series to learn more about this race and their history.
